Yopa vs Purplebricks – Who Wins?

As two of the best known online estate agents in the UK, it appears to be a fairly close one when you compare Yopa vs Purplebricks like for like.

Sure, Purplebricks have a free option which Yopa do not, however, it only gives you a fairly basic listing service.

To make a fair comparison, you need to compare Yopa’s standard package at £999 to Purplebricks Boost package at £899. These are very similar services separated mostly by the £100 saving you can get going with Purplebricks.

However, a word of caution. Neither online agent offer hosted viewings with these packages so you’d need to add it on as an extra if you don’t want to do your own viewings. Yopa only charge an extra £300 for this whereas Purplebricks charges £899. So suddenly, Yopa looks the better deal again.

The major area where they differ is that the Purplebricks fees have to be paid upfront, whereas Yopa do offer an option to pay on completion instead, though this will set you back £1,999.

That may or may not be a deal-breaker depending what you’re looking for but it does just give Yopa the edge for those who prefer to pay on completion.

The one place Purplebricks do perform well is that their customer support is available 24 hours a day.

Our Recommendation:

Overall then, when you compare Yopa Vs Purplebricks, it does seem to be Yopa who edge it.

Sure, Purplebricks may have better brand recognition. They heavily advertise on TV and regularly feature in newspapers and other media outlets. However, Yopa aren’t exactly strangers with TV adverts that have featured celebrities such as athlete Mo Farah.

Put simply, no matter which of these two agents you choose, you’re unlikely to regret it. they are by far the two biggest online estate agents for a reason. They do what they do, and they do it well!

If you prefer a ‘no sale, no fee’ arrangement, Yopa is the best choice for you.

If you want the best-known brand and 24-hour customer support, choose Purplebricks.

Our Experience:

Our 'Sold' Sign
We sold our property with Yopa

When we sold our property in 2021, we were fairly sure that we wanted to use an online estate agent. That was mostly because we felt we could do a pretty good job of selling our home ourselves and we knew online estate agents accommodated more input from the homeowner than most high street ones.

As a result, we considered both Yopa and Purplebricks and compared the two for our own needs.

The biggest thing that put us off Purplebricks was the fact they didn’t offer a ‘no sale, no fee’ service and their upfront service was a little more expensive than Yopa too (this has since changed and they’re now both priced the same for their ‘upfront’ package).

This might not be a problem for you if you’re confident you’ll sell. However, because our property had an unconventional layout that would restrict it’s appeal, we weren’t confident we could sell it for the price we wanted. So, we opted to play it safe and use a ‘pay on completion’ option.

That ‘no sale, no fee’ option was given to us by Yopa and it was cheaper than any of the high street agents had offered us.

Plus, the service was comparable. I can’t think of anything the high street estate agents could offer us that Yopa could not – especially as we were happy to do our own viewings.

As a result, when comparing Yopa to Purplebricks, we decided that Yopa suited our needs much better and we instructed them. We didn’t regret it either as we were able to sell our home and were very happy with the service, as you can read about in our Yopa review.
