Hometree review – Taking care of your boiler can be a tedious task, but it is crucial for your day to day life.

Hometree offers maintenance plans for both homeowners and landlords. They’re designed to ensure that your property stays warm throughout the winter, and your heating system is properly cared for.

The company believes that no one should be subjected to constant price hikes and poor customer service for such a necessity of hot water and heating. The company aims to offer cheaper, better home care plans.

At A Glance:

Most people don’t give any thought to the technology making our lives more comfortable. The boiler is a large part of our home comfort. Hometree wants to make sure that everyone in the UK has access to reliable heating.

Hometree offers specific services to tenants, landlords, and homeowners. The company offers boiler installations at a market-leading rate. It also provides care plans to ensure that your boiler and heating system is well maintained. That will help to keep you feeling warm and comfortable in the colder months.

Hometree is filling the gap left open by the big six energy companies in the UK, who have a reputation for providing lacklustre customer service.

The company offers affordable plans for practically anyone relying on a boiler to accommodate tenants or stay warm.

The Hometree care plans offer a solution for landlords who don’t have a maintenance staff. These care plans can provide an attractive option. They allow you to outsource the servicing and care of the heating equipment in your property.

This is a great way to protect yourself from facing a massive repair bill in the middle of winter.

Do You Need A Care Plan?

As we mentioned earlier in our Hometree review, a boiler and heating system is considered essential equipment for any home. As a landlord, you have a responsibility to ensure that the heating system in your properties works correctly.

If you’re wondering whether you need a Hometree plan, you will need to consider the cost of services if you don’t have a plan in place.

Call out fees are typically £30 or more, and this will only cover the initial diagnosis of the problem. If a repair is necessary, you’re likely to be billed £40 an hour or more for labour costs.

You will also need to consider the level of service offered. Despite not being inexpensive, the big six are well known for offering subpar service. You only need to look at the Trustpilot reviews for British Gas to see how consumers are treated.

A Hometree plan will ensure that your property is properly maintained by a professional engineer. It also gives you the reassurance of a company that takes pride in offering excellent customer service.

Hometree Fees:

In this Hometree review, we’re going to look at pricing for both their landlord and homeowner plans.

Hometree offers three tiers of plans for landlords. You can choose boiler, heating, or full home plans with a choice of call out fees that range from £95 to £0.

The landlord plan fees are as follows:

Landlords – Boiler:

This includes an annual boiler service, gas boiler, flue and controls, LGSR (Landlord Gas Safety Record). The price for this plan is £17.95 per month if you opt for a £95 call out, £18.50 per month with a £60 call out or £23.50 per month with a zero call out fee.

Landlords – Heating:

This offers all of the boiler features, but adds wider central heating. This increases the price to £19.50 per month with a £95 call out fee, £20.25 with a £60 call out fee and £26 with a zero call out fee.

Landlords – Your Home:

This is the most comprehensive plan, adding plumbing, drains, and electrics to the heating plan. This costs £23 per month with a £95 call out fee, £25 a month with a £60 call out fee and £36.50 with a zero call out fee.

Hometree also offers plans for homeowners with the same levels of service, but different pricing.

Homeowners – Boiler:

£12.95 per month if you opt for a £95 call out, £13.50 per month with a £60 call out or £18.50 per month with a zero call out fee.

Homeowners – Heating:

£14.50 per month if you opt for a £95 call out, £15.25 per month with a £60 call out or £21 per month with a zero call out fee.

Homeowners – Home:

£18 per month if you opt for a £95 call out, £20 per month with a £60 call out or £31.50 per month with a zero call out fee.

You can also add Gas Fire Protection to all plans. If you’re signing up for more than one property, there could be a possibility of a discount. All plans include parts and labour, unlimited call outs, a 24 hour emergency line, and the reassurance of a no price hike.

You can also save money by opting for an annual payment plan rather than monthly direct debit. This can provide up to a 5 percent discount. Additionally, Landlords can benefit from a current offer of a £75 voucher for each additional property that you sign up.

How It Works

Why choose Hometree

Let’s continue our Hometree review by looking at the whole process.

The landlord Hometree cover takes the stress out of your breakdown and repair issues. You can avoid being stung with a massive repair bill when you least expect it.

The cover provides scheduled servicing to maintain your manufacturer’s warranty, reducing the risk of a breakdown issue. Should there be a fault, you’ll have access to a helpline and unlimited call outs.

The Hometree Gas Safe engineers can also provide a visual check of your boiler and its controls and internal components. Most of the landlord cover packages include a free of charge annual service and a Landlord Gas Safety Certificate.

As a homeowner, you can have the reassurance that should a problem occur, you can receive quick service without facing a hefty repair bill.

While most homeowners can easily budget for a small amount each month, a bill for hundreds of pounds can be devastating.

The Hometree plans ensure that should a problem develop, you can call out a professional engineer from a trusted company. You can also have the reassurance that your boiler and heating system is operating efficiently and safely.

The care plans provide access to a 24/7 helpline, and there is no cap on any repairs, and all parts are manufacturer approved, brand new and genuine.

Once you sign up, you’ll have a 14 day cooling off period, and if you don’t arrange a call out during this time, you can cancel your package if you change your mind.

Hometree Reviews From Customers:

Good communication. Willing to listen and give options that suits customer needs. Thank you for supporting me as a NHS staff. My working hours were not enough to pay all my bills. Thanks.

Rachel Ostosio via Trustpilot review

Very happy with my annual heating cover. Excellent customer service and easy to book (better time slots offered than those by other providers). Also, very quick response in urgent matters. I would highly recommend it.

So, Is Hometree Any Good?

Hometree offers its clients access to straightforward service plans. The higher tier plans also cover issues such as drains, which can be a significant problem if they are left without any proper maintenance.

Let’s explore both the positives and negatives to discover if Hometree could be the right option for you.

Positives of Hometree:

  • 24/7 Hotline: Boiler and heating issues rarely occur at a convenient time, so Hometree provides the reassurance of around the clock help.
  • Choice of Plans: You can tailor your coverage to suit your specific requirements, including opting for a higher or lower call out fee.
  • Excellent Customer Service: According to user reviews, Hometree consistently offers excellent customer service and has a Trustpilot rating of excellent from over 900 reviews.

Negatives of Hometree:

  • Landlord Plans More Expensive: If you’re a landlord, you will have to pay a little more each month, with the plans costing as much as £5 a month more.

As you can see the positives appear to far outweigh the negatives, so Hometree does appear to live up to its reputation.

A Short History Of Hometree

Hometree was established in 2016 and has its headquarters in London. The company’s founder and CEO, Simon Phelan was listed in the Forbes 30 under 30 in 2018.

To date, the company has raised approximately £6 million in funding to leverage 21st century technology. Hometree claims to have thousands of happy customers, protecting £30 million of value in systems.

Hometree Review – Summary:

So, what have we learned in our Hometree review? Well, we’ve discovered they appear to offer a superb service. It fills the gap left by the big six and helps consumers who have found themselves frustrated at the service offered by British Gas and the other big six.

With a choice of tiered plans, whether you’re a landlord or homeowner, you can tailor your plan to suit your specific needs and budget.

This allows you to avoid the unpleasant surprise of receiving a massive repair bill at the worst possible time. Hometree provides a 24/7 hotline, so you can access repair services at any time. Plus, if you’ve selected the zero call out plan option, there are no fees or charges for any repairs.

If you’re concerned with how you will handle a substantial repair bill, Hometree does offer some financial protection.

The monthly plan fees are relatively inexpensive and provide the reassurance that should an issue develop with your home or rental property; you will be covered.

That means, we have no hesitation in recommending a Hometree plan whether you’re a homeowner or landlord.
