With their black and red branding, Bairstow Eves distinctive ‘For Sale’ boards are pretty easy to spot. But how do they actually perform as an estate agent? Find out as we compare Bairstow Eves reviews…

At A Glance:

Bairstow Eves have over 100 offices spread across the country. That’s a coverage that’s been gradually built up over the company’s 100-year history. That means there’s probably a Bairstow Eves office near you.

As part of the Countrywide Group, Bairstow Eves offer all of the services you’d expect of a large estate agency, including lettings and mortgage advice.

They’ve also won awards. But, word of warning, awards don’t always mean a great deal. The performance of each individual branch isn’t necessarily the same as the next one.

Here’s how Bairstow Eves perform in the most important areas:
  • Offer both sales & lettings
  • Wide range of services
  • Fairly standard price levels
  • Mixed reviews on different platforms
  • Properties listed on all the major portals

So, that’s not too bad a start but the mixed Bairstwo Eves reviews may be a slight concern. We’ll look at those more in a moment. First, let’s take a look at some other key points you should know:

Is Bairstow Eves The Best Estate Agent In Your Area?

Answer four simple questions about your home below to get instant recommendations on the best performing estate agents near you:

Bairstow Eves Reviews From Customers

There are significantly varying reviews on Bairstow Eves depending where you look. If you go to their AllAgents page you’ll see mostly positive reviews. Yet, if you go to their Trustpilot page, it’s mostly negative feedback and ratings. Here are a few recent examples:

Frinton on sea branch, Jodie went above and beyond the call of duty to ensure that this House sale went ahead. With problem after problem mounting against the sale she was the glue that held the whole deal together. I’ll be eternally grateful to her. What an asset to your company. A+

Trevor Drake via Trustpilot

Not impressed at all, particularly with the post sale completion process which was at best shambolic. Higher commission than other estate agents in South Croydon/Sanderstead, poor marketing, and dreadful after sales. I would use Pollard Machin or Barnard Marcus in the future.

Jonathan Davis via Trustpilot

Not the worst agent out there but you get what you pay for. They are cheap and cheerful but that’s all you get back. Visited Bairstows in Barking 2017.

Best-Rated Bairstow Eves Branches

Best-Rated Estate Agent Branches

As we mentioned earlier, the mixed reviews are partly due to the service level varying on a branch by branch basis. It’s very common for the larger nationwide estate agents.

For that reason, it helps if you can find ratings for your local office as well as the company as a whole.

By looking at the various available Bairstow Eves reviews, the following branches appear to be the best-rated ones:

  • Battersea
  • Bromley
  • East Croydon
  • Norbury
  • Purley

All of the local offices listed above have many 5-star reviews from customers and almost no bad reviews. That means they are amongst the best Bairstow Eves offices. If your local office is listed above you can be relatively confident you’ll receive a good service.

Worst-Rated Bairstow Eves Branches

Worst-Rated Estate Agent Branches

Now we’ll take a look at the local offices that don’t appear to be performing quite as well. These branches are most likely the ones that are bringing down the overall rating of Bairstow Eves on Trustpilot.

  • Banbury
  • Barking
  • Bow
  • Clacton-on-Sea
  • Colchester
  • Coventry
  • Great Barr
  • Ipswich
  • Leyton
  • Walsall

None of the offices listed above have particularly great reputations in their area. They each have multiple 1-star reviews and very few positive ones. They are therefore only to be used with caution.

If your local office hasn’t made either of the lists above then they are either somewhere between or there simply aren’t enough reviews available on them yet.

Bairstow Eves Estate Agency – A Short History

As we briefly mentioned at the start of this post, Bairstow Eves are part of the Countrywide Group. In case you don’t know, that’s the overall parent company of several estate agency brands including Frank Innes, Locke & England, Palmer Snell, and more.

The group dates back to 1986 when financial services company Hambros plc acquired both Bairstow Eves and Mann & Co. Since then, the group has undergone many changes and acquired many more brands. Currently there are 57 different brands within the larger group.

To keep on the Bairstow Eves theme, it’s worth pointing out they are actually a franchise operation. That means that people can ‘buy’ the chance to run their own estate agent under the Bairstow Eves brand. That could well be one of the reason why there is so much variation in the Bairstow Eves reviews you’ll find online.

More recently, the Countrywide Group has issued a number of profit warnings and appear to be struggling financially.

Bairstow Eves Reviews – Our Verdict

In terms of the service they offer, there’s no doubt that some Bairstow Eves offices offer an overall excellent service. However, there are also plenty of offices that seem to have a pretty poor reputation.

That means you’ll need to be careful that your local office is one of the better ones otherwise you may find you don’t get what you expect.

Their pricing is fairly typical for an estate agent of this size. That said, it does also seem that some branches take quite an aggressive approach to their fees and are very reasonably priced compared to other local high street agents.

The fact they also offer mortgage broking, as well as lettings, means they can offer most of the services people require when it comes to property.
